The impact on your eating habits could be very important. For example, if you had both a normal size cup, you may have to buy much smaller, because you may not be able to drink a glass together. Your sizes meals may also reduce by about one tenth of what you have been accustomed. This could amount to only a very small portion on a plate.
This may seem attractive at first, but it could also mean that you may not be able to physically eat enough food to provide regular meals and, therefore, must take nutritional supplements for the rest of your life.
The complications that may arise from the gastric sleeve procedure include internal leakage after the operation. This can cause septicemia, which can be dangerous, even deadly.
The other important thing to remember is that the procedure is irreversible. Once done, you must live with the consequences for the rest of your life.
The sleeve gastrectomy as a stand-alone bariatric surgery is a new approach and still considered experimental by many bariatric surgeons and insurance companies. It is covered by some insurance companies, but not by others. Generally, insurers do not cover a procedure they consider experimental.
