Cup Stainless

I used electrolysis for about 35 years as a way to clean coins and relics that came out of the ground in less than desirable condition. Sol Sandy, I like those in central Florida, is not hard on the silver and gold coins, relics and jewelry metal detecting found. Nickel, copper and brass are not doing as well and also find out much damaged by fire or other natural environments (soil) factors. Getting started is easy and cheap.
The first thing you need is a 9, 12 or 18 volts AC / DC adapter from a phone or other electronic source such as a game console. Most people have one laying around the house or they can be purchased in a thrift store for some dollars.
Cut the small plug at the other end of your card, and separate the son. Strip the ends and attach an alligator clip to each wire with screws that are provided (do not use the copper color clip). The arms are inexpensive and hardware stores or stores like KMart WALMART or transport.
A stainless steel spoon, a glass cup and a box of salt are the only other essentials needed to complete your cleaning project parts. Concentrated lemon juice can also improve your results, but not required for electrolysis to work.
Fill glass cup with tap water and add a teaspoon of salt and mix thoroughly. Put a few drops of lemon juice concentrate in water will increase the level of conductivity.
The next step is to determine which clip was the son positive and negative. If you do no tester for determining it, do not worry. Put the stainless steel spoon in the glass and attach an alligator clip to him and the other medal. Plug the adapter into the wall outlet and flood the room in the salt solution so that it is completely covered without affecting the spoon. If the spoon is boiling, you need to move around the alligator clip. The clip is the negative one that bubbles and goes to the room. I mark clip positively with a red marker, or better yet, put a knot in the negative wire to remember to put the pieces for this clip.
If everything is part will start to fizz and bubble in a few seconds. Make sure the clip is in contact with bare metal on the coin. It may be necessary to remove some corrosion to reach bare metal. Within minutes, it should resemble a small cloud of dust forms around the room. Electrolysis works and the current passes through the room and separating non-corrosive metal particles off of the room. After about five minutes, the cloud will be much bigger and it will generate a foul odor. It takes about five to seven minutes to clean the room, but it does not hurt to lift the solution to stop the cleaning process. When you feel that this is done, unplug the unit tour. Never leave the unit plugged in and unattended. The factor of heat from the electrolysis could start a fire and destroy your house.
I have successfully used this method cleaning on the old Bible, 1700-1900 and pieces of all kinds. If you are unsure about the value of a currency, Do not use this method. Remember that ancient coins are not considered in the same way as modern plays and this method is somewhat safer for most of them. Safety is a must! Get yourself an OSHA approved mask as a breathing apparatus chemical. Stainless steel gives a gas in the cleaning process which could cause skin or even lung damage over a long period of time. Also treat the residue that is a hazardous chemical, and it dispose of properly. Rust free cast iron is much safer than steel and eliminates the risk to your health. There is a better choice for this cleaning process.
