What is the best method to clean the inside of an old style percolator electric coffee maker?
My friends tell me not to clean / scrub the inside with washing up liquid and water to remove coffee residue / staining. I was says to use a solution of vinegar and water.
I bought a beautiful all places Goodwill Store was type 1960 with the long thin beak, and when I was a chief for the tarnish and strains out of silver and aluminum plates with a solution hot water and washing soda, will, it is available in the laundry section, vinegar does not work on mineral deposits and water problems hard, flavors and tannins coffee fit the same in the pores of the metal, if you need to use something to remove the vinegar is good for a rinsing agent after the baking soda. Add 2 tablespoons of soda in the pan and fill with boiling water, let the rest for 30 minutes, then remove it and then add the vinegar to about 1 / 2 cup with the same quantity of boiling water, again let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water and dry with a towel or paper towels. I do it every 2-3 months to keep the flavors clean and residue accumulate.
