Iced Tea

If one of drink recipes most frequently requested ingredients of Long Island iced tea to bring keep one drinks the most difficult to ascertain. The high ratio of liquid mixing this drink and its dense concentration of sugar makes the required balance rather delicate. If the mixologist uses too heavy a hand when it comes to pouring the liquid, the drink may contain an extraordinary level of intoxication that potential still manages to be masked by all the sugar in non-alcoholic ingredients. On the contrary, not enough alcohol can leave the consumer drink too sweet to taste nothing like the iced tea is for (yes, this drink made in the proportions actually seems appropriate and taste like a regular non-alcoholic iced tea!)
Before preparing this recipe drink, barware following should be hand:
- Either a glass / steel Boston shaker style filter (recommended) or a 3-piece cocktail shaker in stainless steel series
- A measure Jigger, liqueur glass with lines of action, or self-measuring bottle spout
- A highball glass for each guest (about 12 ounce capacity)
Start by throwing a few ice cubes in highball glass each. Then, measure the following ingredients (quantity each guest) into the shaker:
- 1 / 2 oz vodka
- 1 / 2 oz rum
- 1 / 2 oz tequila
- 1 / 2 oz Gin
- 1 / 2 oz Triple Sec
- 2 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
Give the ingredients a good 3-5 seconds to shake create a uniform mixture of flavors, then pour over ice in highball glass. Each glass is then given a quick splash of cola (not more than one ounce), and finally garnish with cherries.
Popular changes in Long Island iced tea and their replacements:
The Adios – substitute Blue Curacao for Triple Sec, and Sprite to Coke
